Kenai Volleyball Claims 3A State Championship

The Kenai Kardinal volleyball team punctuated a perfect season-long, undefeated run through 3A volleyball opponents with a championship sweep of the Valdez Buccaneers on Saturday, claiming the ASAA 3A State Volleyball championship at the Alaska Airlines Center in Anchorage.

 

Kenai, in the championship contest, held-off the Bucs 25-21, 25-21 and 25-22 countering Valdez at every step.

Emma Beck led the attack with 18 kills and five blocks.  Jorgi Phillips recorded 29 assists; Kimberly Chanley recorded 35 digs.

 

For the state tournament, Kenai’s Emma Beck, Cali Holmes and Jorgi Phillips were each selected as players of the game; all three were also Southcentral Conference 1st Team all-conference selections (along with Kim Chanley).

Jorgi Phillips was selected Player of the Game for the championship game.
