Southcentral Conference volleyball, which normally brings its own competitive drama, featured quality volleyball and maybe even more quality giving.

The Kenai Kardinals held-off Nikiski in a four-game match on the court 25-17, 21-25, 25-13 and 25-17 while the combined community of volleyball joined together in fundraising efforts “Digging Deep for Donalen” to raise monies and support for KCHS 2016 graduate Donalen Bowers, who is currently undergoing treatment in Seattle for Neuroblastoma cancer, a rare childhood cancer.

The Kardinals annually hold a “Dig Pink” or  “Killing Cancer on Kenai” volleyball event and for 2019 the efforts were targeted for the Bower family with over $7,000 raised through donation, silent auction, and other fundraising efforts.  More details on the fundraising efforts at KCHS Volleyball facebook page.

On the court, Kenai’s Bethany Morris recorded 19 kills and Jaden Streiff notched 13 digs.  For the Bulldogs, Kaycee Bostic pounded 16 kills and America Jefferies recorded 20 digs.

SoHi Volleyball Sinks Mariners

The Soldotna Stars traveled to Homer for a non-divisional pairing against the Homer Mariners on Tuesday.  The Stars downed Homer in four games 26-24, 23-25,25-21 and 25-18.
