The Kenai Kardinals volleyball team downed Nikiski in three-straight 25-14, 25-13, 25-19 on Saturday to improve to 6-0 in the Southcentral Conference and 10-0 in non-tournament pairings.
The Kardinals also raised over $9,300 dollars (with some monies still coming in) in their annual Killing Cancer on the Kenai, with the proceeds going to Marla Taylor for her fight against metastatic breast cancer. Valerie Villegas, who was primary in organizing the fundraising event, recorded 17 digs and Emma Beck recorded 11 kills against the Bulldogs. Nikiski’s Ariel VanZandt accounted for four kills.
SoHi 0 – Wasilla 3
On Saturday, the Soldotna Stars fell 25-17, 26-24 and 25-18 to Wasilla; a second loss to the Warriors following Friday’s 3-1 loss. Katelyn Morrison had 22 kills and nine aces in the two games against Wasilla.
