Kenai Volleyball Sweeps SoHi In Non-Divisional Match: Homer Downs Nikiski

The Killing Cancer on the Kenai volleyball fundraiser, featuring raffles, auctions, spit the pot, dinners and even some volleyball was a resounding success with the day’s events raising (so far) nearly $16,000 for the cancer fundraiser at Kenai Central High School.

 

Kenai 3 – SoHi 0

The Kardinals held-off the Stars in three-straight sets 25-19, 25-19 and 25-22 in a non-conference match at KCHS.  Emma Beck lead the Kardinal attack with 16 kills and Jorgi Phillips recorded 24 assists.  For the Stars, Katelynn Morrison amassed 16 kills and Nicole Dickinson added 21 assists.

Kenai improves to 8-0 in head-to-head matches; SoHi stands at 5-7.

The Stars travel to Seward on Thursday; then will compete with Kenai and Nikiski at the Lady Grizzly Volleyball Tournament at Grace Christian School on Friday and Saturday, October 7-8.

 

Homer 3 – Nikiski 1

In Southcentral Conference volleyball on Tuesday,  the Mariners downed Nikiski 3-1 with Homer taking the first two sets 28-26 and 25-19.  Nikiski won the third 25-13 and the Mariners closed the match 25-23.  Izzy Dye lead Homer with 16 kills.  Nikiski’s Ashlynne Playle recorded 12 kills  and five aces and Kailey Stynsberg totaled 21 digs; Savanna Stock added 15 digs, 13 assists, four kills, three blocks and six aces.
