Kenai’s Fourth of July Parade will close parts of Kenai down for two hours on Sunday as floats line up for the annual event.

Kenai Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center Executive Director Brittany Brown says the parade lineup will begin on Sunday morning in advance of the parade that begins at 11:00 a.m.:

We’re asking folks who are participating in the parade to get down to Trading Bay Road to get signed up for the lineup. What I mean by signup is check in, we’re going to give you your number and you’re going to line up according to your number. So we are going to have folks who have turned in their forms, we’re going to have them placed in line.”

Brown talks about the parade route:

So the route is going to begin on Fidalgo Avenue and then it’s going to head up to Willow Street and then up onto Main Street Loop. It’s going to be the exact same route we’ve had in the past. That’s all going to be blocked off right there. Starting Fidalgo Avenue up Willow Street and then onto Main Street Loop. The parade is going to end at the Kenai Visitor’s Center. So it’s going to route on into the parking lot right there and then exit through the far side onto the road back out.”

The midway festivities will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday:

From noon until 4:00 p.m. we’re going to have so many festivities on the Kenai Green Strip. I’m talking about the Children’s Carnival. We’re going to have a petting zoo. We’re goin to have water games by the Kenai Fire Department. We’re going to have silly hair. We’re going to have vendor booths, food booths, a beer garden and also live music from Zack Daniels. The live music is going to take place from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.”
