Director of Operations DeeDee Fowler with Kenaitze Indian Tribe…

Fowler: “It was formally a tattoo parlor I believe on the first floor and an apartment that was for rent on the second floor, and it also has a vacant lot next to it.”

The two story, timber-clad home on Overland Avenue is near the Wellness Center and Elders facility campuses.

Fowler says they haven’t formally identified exactly what programs the building will house yet.

Fowler: “We plan to use the facility to cover need for multiple programs, no just the Dena’ina Wellness Center, but we’ll use the structure to house a couple different programs and then the vacant lot next door will be used to provide much needed parking for the campus.”

She says the Kenaitze Indian Tribe considers the purchase price of the building confidential.

The Kenai Peninsula Borough assessed the parcel and building in 2015 for $134,400.
