Ketchikan Basketball Tournament Continues With Friday Contests

Basketball action at the Clark Cockrane Christmas Classic continued on Friday with the Soldotna boys, Soldotna girls and Nikiski boys playing second round games.

 

Friday Game Results

SoHi Boys 66 – Metlakatla 60  Double Overtime

The SoHi boys rallied in the fourth quarter and defeated Metlakata 66-60 in double overtime lead by Jersey Truesdell scored 27 points in the fourth quarter and overtime.  Truesdell recorded eight tree-pointers and 35 total points for the game.  Brock Kant added 17 for the Stars.

SoHi will face Bishop Blanchet (Seattle, Washington) at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday in the tournament’s fourth place game.

 

Nikiski Boys 29 – Bishop Blanchet (Seattle, Washington) 57

Bishop Blanchet, after losing Thursday at the buzzer to Palmer, downed Nikiski 57-29 in Friday’s consolation bracket.  The Bulldogs scored 13 of 29 points in the third quarter.  Noah Litke lead the Bulldogs with 10 points.  Nikiski plays Metlakatla in the seventh place game on Saturday at 10:45 a.m.

 

SoHi Girls 61 – Thunder Mountain 40

The SoHi girls advance to the championship game on Saturday with a 61-40 victory over Thunder Mountain.  Ituau Tuisaula scored 24 points and Brittani Blossom scored 21 points for the Stars.  SoHi faces the winner of Lathrop vs Ketchikan in the CCCC championship game tomorrow night at 7:30 pm.

First Round Tournament Results (Thursday)

SoHi Girls 71 – Craig 30

The Soldotna Star girls opened the tournament with a 71-30 victory over 2A Craig from Southeast Alaska.   Brittani Blossom lead the Stars with 22 points and Aliann Schmidt added 18, Ituau Tuisaula, 12 points and Danica Schmidt, 11 points.

SoHi Boys 54 – Philomath, Oregon 56 OT

Philomath scored the game winner at the buzzer in overtime following a missed freethrow by SoHi.  The game was tied at 51 after regulation.  Ray Chumley lead SoHi with 18 points.

Nikiski Boys 26 – Lewis & Clark 71

The Nikiski Boys fell behind early and never recovered from a 32-11 halftime, falling to Lewis & Clark High School from Spokane, Washington 71-26.  Shane Weathers lead the Bulldogs with 9 points.  Nikiski will play Bishop Blanchet of Seattle on Friday inthe10:45 a.m. game; Bishop Blanchet lost to Palmer 47-46 on a last second basket for the Moose.
