Pro golfers throughout the state of Alaska met up at the Birch Ridge Golf Course on Monday, for the annual State Farm Pro Am and All-Star Skins Game, a fixture at the Birch Ridge Golf Course since 1997.
How about a $5000 putt to take all nine skins and the championship.
Brandon Kizer from the Moose Run Golf Course in Anchorage, sinks a putt from 10-feet out, he and his partner Chris Wright from the Palmer Golf Course take the entire purse, $5000 for the skins championship.
The Skins format, a little different this year, with six two-person teams competing in alternate shot format.
The first eight holes all finish up even with the pro teams pushing all eight holes. All of the money on the line at hole number nine. And a 10-foot putt wins it for the team of Kizer and Wright, the largest total purse ever won in the Skins game.
Earlier in the day, 18 holes of golf with a pro playing with area amateursl; Billy Bomar and his team of Gary Davis, George Stein and Tyler Yamada take first place in the pro-am competition.
Rob Nelson turns in the top pro score in the 18-hole event during the afternoon, a two-under par 68, Aaron Dexheimer was second with a 69. For the amateurs, Max Dye from Kenai, the top gross score with a 72, Eddie Sibolboro with a 74, and Nick Beeson from Kenai records a 77.
Next up on the tournament schedule at the Birch Ridge Golf Course, the July Par Three Event set for July 20, the Seward Seahawks Booster Tournament on July 21st, and the Junior Masters Golf Tournament, on July 22nd and 23rd.
The Bird Homestead Golf Course sponsoring the Enstar Company Tournament, a closed tournament that will be on July 21st.
The Funny River Festival on August 3rd, and the Kenai Golf Course, the Hillcorp Tournament is scheduled for Friday July 13th, with a KGA Tournament on the 15th, July 20th will feature in the morning the Alliance Tournament, and in the afternoon on the 20th, the Hillcorp Tournament.
