The Peninsula Oilers received three selections to the 2018 ABL All-League First Team and no selections to the ABL All-League Second Team; in-spite-of, recording a season record of 23-21 and only two games back of second place.
Ryan Koch received First Team selections as both the #1 catcher and designated hitter. Starting Pitcher Mike Lopez was named one of five ABL First Team starting pitchers.
Notably missing from the All-League selections are Oilers starter Tevin Murray, who recorded 46 strikeouts in eight starts (Murray pitched six, scoreless innings in Wednesday’s opening playoff game); and Oilers reliever Matt Amrhein, who allowed only one earned run in 17 innings and posted an ERA of 0.56 (Amrhein pitched four, scoreless innings in Wednesday’s opening playoff game). Also missing from the All-League selections is Mat-Su Miner Spenser Henson. Henson finished second in the ABL in hitting with a .336 batting average and finished tied for first in both RBI (37) and Home Runs (7).
