An offensive onslaught by the Kodiak Bears in the final game of the Southcentral Conference Baseball Tournament pushed the Bears to second place for the tournament and earns Kodiak the #2 seed-SoHi the #3 seed- to the ASAA Division II State Baseball Championships.
Kodiak 17 – SoHi 2 2nd Place Game
The Kodiak Bears plated 17 runs on 17 hits in just 2.1 innings recording a 17-2 victory over SoHi. Kodiak collected 14 runs on 13 hits in the 3rd inning (with just one out) for the 15-run rule win. Ryan Stephenson hit two home runs in the 3rd inning and recorded five RBI in one inning.
SoHi 15 – Homer 0 3rd Place Game
The Stars shutdown Homer 15-0 in the tournament’s 3rd place game on Saturday morning at the SoHi Field.
Atticus Gibson opened the scoring with a 2-run home run in the first inning; then, belted a grand slam home run in the second inning for a total of six RBI in two at-bats. An 8-run, 3rd inning pushed the score to 15-0 and ended the contest on the 15-run rule.
The victory earns SoHi a guaranteed berth to the Division II state baseball tournament scheduled for June 3-5 at Wasilla High School.
