The Kodiak Bears opened a two-day peninsula swing and continued its dominance in conference softball with a doubleheader sweep of the Soldotna Stars on Thursday at the Soldotna Little League field.
Kodiak 12 – SoHi 1
Kodiak pitcher Leslie Spear recorded a no-hitter in a four inning outing as Kodiak downed SoHi 12-1 in four innings. The Stars managed a single run on a pair of walks and a Bear error.
Kodiak 15 – SoHi 3
In game two of the doubleheader, Kodiak scored twelve runs in the first two innings and added three runs in the fourth inning for a 15-3, run-rule victory over the Stars. SoHi pitchers combined to issue 13 walks and allowed only three hits, including a game-winning triple by Ana Solomon for a walk-off victory. SoHi scored two runs in the second inning on three-straight base hits; the Stars managed only four hits for the contest.
Kodiak continues play on Friday against the Kenai Kardinals with a doubleheader at the Kenai softball fields. Game times scheduled for 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
