Alaskans aged 50 and above who have a high-risk medical condition or work in an essential job around others, plus many education workers regardless of age, some COVID-19 response workers and anyone who lives or works in certain congregate settings are the latest group to receive the green light to get vaccinated for the COVID-19 vaccine.
As a result, the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District is taking advantage to the new tier opening up for those eligible to get vaccinated by scheduling a district vaccination clinic, according to Superintendent John O’Brien who spoke to KSRM, “Vaccinations continue to roll out. We’re pleased to announce that there’ll be a district vaccination clinic for staff. The first dose will be administered this Friday the 26th and then three weeks from that, the second dose on the 19th of March is scheduled to go out to staff as we continue to work our way through this pandemic. We’re going to be doing Central Penn will be at the prep school. There’s a location down in the Southern Peninsula and the Eastern Peninsula will have a location down there as well. Three regional locations for the district.”
The Vaccine Task Force is using a phased approach to allocate the limited supply of the COVID-19 vaccine to Alaskans. The task force is co-led by the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services and the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium.
