The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District’s 2021-2022 school year begins today. The district is excited to have all of the students, staff, and parents back in school after a tumultuous year plagued by COVID-19.

Superintendent Clayton Holland spoke with KSRM:

We’re ready to go! We’re going to school. So schools start across the district. We’re ready. People are ready to see the kids and we’re all ready to go!”

Holland reminded parents:

Online school registration is open for new and returning students. If you’re returning to your neighborhood school this year after homeschool or another option, make sure to register. The link is easy to find at KPBSD.org. If you have any troubles with that or internet connection issues, just go on into your school and talk to the secretary there.”

Holland tells everyone to keep safety in mind:

“We want our children to safely travel to and from school on bikes, busses and cars and while walking. So as we start the new school year, kindly slow down when you’re driving your busses or in school zones. Just that reminder to get used to those yellow busses on the road again. Flashing lights will be out at school crossings when students arrive to school in the morning and during dismissal time. If you’re driving, please slow down and pay attention.”
