Students across the peninsula will have a shortened school week with an early release next Wednesday and no school Thursday or Friday.

Pegge Erkeneff with the school district says last year was the first the district tried the early release days which went well according to a survey of parents, students, and faculty.

Erkeneff: “We are continuing that again so for six times throughout this school year we’ll have an early release for students so that makes it a maximum day for our staff to work together and work time in small groups. The teachers get together and talk about improvement strategies so that they can be better at what they do.”

On Wednesday, October 28, students will be released one and a half hours early and bus schedules will be adjusted.

Next Thursday and Friday, October 29-30, are inservice days meaning no school for students so that parent-teacher conferences can take place.
