The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District is looking for community input on how to improve their performance.

Spokeswoman Pegge Erkeneff says the input gathered through the District’s online survey will be refined and implemented in the 2017-2022 strategic plan.

Erkeneff: “This is going to be a several month process that we’re going through. We have a survey that’s open to community members, families, even our students and staff but we’re inviting people to respond to five questions and give us what their priorities will be within that question, what’s most important to them in the school district.”

The survey questions focus on evidence of education quality, challenges or issues impacting equal education, educational priorities, student skills and abilities, and financial priorities. There is also an area where community members can provide ideas for how the District can improve.

Erkeneff: “The last time we went through it we really spent a lot of time and came up with guiding principals, a new vision and new mission. We’re thinking we’re going to stay within the vision, mission, and principals that we have right now, that’s what we’re hearing. But we set way too many goals for each of our three sections, which were academic success, community and family engagement and organizational excellence. So we’re really trying to hone it down and be really specific about what we want to do best.”
