August 25 is the first day of classes for Kenai Peninsula College and so far, registration is looking strong.

Suzie Kendrick with KPC said she is still expecting more registrations before the 25.

Kendrick: “We are so happy! Right now in the State of Alaska, if all the different campus are thrilled if they are 10% down or less. We have been fluctuating from 2% increased enrollments to about 1% percent down. So we are thrilled, and we still have so time to go.”

She added that that new residence halls are a way to increase more out of town students to attend KPC.

Kendrick: “It looks our new residence hall is going to be at about, tentatively looking about 60% occupancy. Which is right on schedule, for where we hope to be in terms of filling that place up.”

Kendrick said their summer conferencing program at the hall went way better than anyone expected for the first year and was close to full occupancy most of the summer.
