Significant enrollment growth has been seen in the Kenai Peninsula College over the last five years while other colleges are experiencing lower student numbers.
KPC Director Gary Turner said the Kenai Peninsula’s four campuses have experienced a 30% growth over the past five years.
Turner: “When you compare fall of ’14 to fall of ’13 we grew about seven and a half percent. This past spring, we were actually about even, broke about even. Looking ahead to this fall, we’re down as of just a few days ago, probably 6%.”
Turner said the college has noticed students waiting longer to register for classes so he expects to at least break even. He added that with their last nine years of growth the enrollment was expected to plateau at some point.
KPC’s top credit hour productions go to their math programs.
Turner: “Math makes up almost 15% of our credit hours, Process Technology is about 11%, English is about 8%.”
College Students’ first day for Fall 2015 is August 24.
