This evening the Kenai Peninsula College Showcase series will host “Is Craft Beer the New Wine? And If It Is, Is That a Good Thing?”
Showcase Coordinator Dave Atcheson told us a little bit about the event.
Atcheson: “Our presenter will be Bill Howell, who teaches the Beer Appreciation class here at the college. And he’s written two volumes of a book called Beer on the Last Frontier: The Craft Breweries of Alaska.”
Howell is KPC’s Director of Student Services, writes a beer column for the Redoubt Reporter and the Northwest Brewing News.
Atcheson said Howell will present the similarities between wine and craft beers rise in popularity.
Atcheson: “You know how in wine there’s connoisseurs and that sort of thing, which has led to price increases and some people might see as elitism. And with craft beers and all the different types of beers I think he’s going to talk about how that could happen to beer as well or that sort of thing.”
The Showcase starts at 7 pm and is free to the public and will be held in the McLain Commons at KPC.
