KPC to Roll Out New Website

The Kenai Peninsula College has been working on a new website and plans to unveil it next week.

KPC’s Suzie Kendrick said it was time for them to take a look at their website for a number of reasons.

Kendrick: “First and foremost reason was in this day and  age of different sized screens, multiple devices, people looking at websites on screens as small as their smart phones. It’s really important to have a website that is responsive design, which means that no matter what device you are using the site will resize and maximize that particular view. It really reduces the users effective experience when they’re having to pan and enlarge and read to the end of a sentence and scroll back, that was the impetus to get this thing going.”

She said looking at their web statistics they realized that over half of the traffic is on mobile devices and every day they put off the redesign they were shooting themselves in the foot.

The new website has been a work in progress since early last summer and Kendrick said they plan to launch it on Monday, December 15.

Kendrick: “I’ve got everything crossed as I say this, we’re launching a week from today, next Monday! We tried to launch in a time that will be at the end of semester but we want to make sure that everything is ready to go for the enrollment processes for spring semester.”
