KPHA U18 Ice Hawks Finish As Runner-Up At North American Fall Tournament

The Kenai Peninsula Hockey Association U18 Ice Hawks finished second at the 2021 North American Fall Championships hockey tournament, dropping the championship game 5-1 to Chelmsford, Massachusetts on Sunday, November 28th in Marlboro, Massachusetts.

 

The North American Fall Championships featured a four-team, round-robin leading to a Sunday playoff and championship round.  The four teams included Chelmsford, Mass., Mass Avalanche of Boston, Mass., Westford, Mass. and the KPHA Ice Hawks.

 

Tournament Game Recaps: Ice Hawks

Game One: Ice Hawks 1 – Chelmsford 5   Friday, November 26

The Ice Hawks managed a single goal by Aiden Burcham.  Tanner Clyde and Ayden See shared duties in goal for the Ice Hawks in a 5-1 loss.

Game Two: Ice Hawks 2 – Westford 1    Saturday, November 27

Daniel Sheldon and Jacob Begich scored goals in the Ice Hawks 2-1 victory against Westford.  Ayden See recorded the win in goal for the Ice Hawks.

Game Three: Ice Hawks 4 – Mass Avalanche 4     Saturday, November 27

The Ice Hawks and Avalanche played to a 4-4 tie in the third pool-play game for the Ice Hawks.  Ice Hawks goals were scored by: Blake Bucho, Dawson Lockwood, Logan Mese and Daniel Sheldon.  Tanner Clyde served in goal for the Ice Hawks.

Playoff Game: Ice Hawks 3 – Mass Avalanche 0    Sunday, November 28

Based on the round-robin rounds, KPHA earned the #3 seed into the four-team bracket and defeated #2 Mass Avalanche 3-0 to advance to the tournament championship game.

Jacob Begich scored twice and Gehret Medcoff added a goal for the 3-1 victory.  Ayden See recorded a shut out in net for the Ice Hawks.  The Ice Hawks advanced to the championship game to face Chelmsford (6-0 winners over Westford).

Championship Game: Ice Hawks 1 – Chelmsford 5     Sunday, November 28

The Ice Hawks managed only a single goal by Daniel Sheldon with Auden See and Tanner Clyde sharing time in goal in a 5-1 championship game loss to Chelmsford.
