Today during the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce annual awards ceremony, several awards were given to outstanding members of the Soldotna community, to acknowledge their accomplishments.
The Excellence in Profession award was given to the General Manager of KSRM Radio Inc. Matt Wilson today which seemed to have caught him by surprise.
Wilson: “I got an inkling something was up a couple of days ago when I was asked to speak and give an award at today’s luncheon and as it got closer the details got fewer and fewer and fewer and then when I got to the event I saw not only my entire staff but my wife and other people from the community and I thought something’s up here…”
We asked him how it felt to have all of his accomplishments over the past several years announced at today’s luncheon.
Wilson: “It was kind of an awesome reminder of all the experiences that I’ve had, I’m not that old at least I don’t think of myself of being that old and to hear some of the things that we’ve done over the last very short years was kind of incredible to kind of relive some of those little bits. It was very humbling, I was asked to say something as soon as it was done and I had nothing to say, I had nothing more to add I was speechless and I was honored.”
A very comical and tasteful speech was given about Matt Wilson by one of his employees as he was given the award.
