Governor Bill Walker will give the annual State of the State address at 7:00 pm Thursday, January 21, from the Capitol Building in Juneau.
His same address one year ago today was focused on Alaska’s energy potential and the opportunity brought by disasters. Walker used an anecdote of the hardships endured by his family after the 1964 earthquake.
Gov. Walker: “This is what I learned from my parents: don’t panic when times are tough, make a plan, stick to it, stay focused, stay positive, and get to work. Now is not the time to sound the alarm my fellow Alaskans, now is a time to pull together, make a plan, sharpen our focus and get to work. We have the tools, we have the ingenuity, we have the team and we will work a way out and build an even stronger Alaska.”
Following 2015’s State of the State, Walker also gave a State of the Budget to lawmakers, where he focused on downsizing government as a way to cut costs.
