The Alaska Broadcasters Association will welcome Matt Wilson into the ABA Hall of Fame on November 17, 2023. Matt will be the 76th member of the ABA Hall of Fame, which was established in 1985.

Matt Wilson lives and breathes broadcasting – putting in countless hours at work and wearing multiple hats – on-air talent, engineer, sales manager, business manager, producer – and all the “other duties as assigned.” He has volunteered countless hours over the years by serving on the ABA Board, often making the drive from Kenai to Anchorage and back after working a morning shift, then ending the night doing high school play by play.

He takes the time to educate himself on broadcasting issues facing the state of Alaska and then educates fellow broadcasters. During convention he often has been a skilled moderator for panel discussions. As nominators Kim Williams and DeeDee Caciari said on the application form: “Matt has always said “I’m willing to serve wherever you need me.” Matt has served on the ABA Board of Directors since 2005 and has gone above & beyond numerous times during his board tenure with the ABA to step up and fulfill roles to help fellow broadcasters in the state. He served as Board President for three consecutive years – 2012, 2013, 2014. Since then and currently, Matt serves as the Legislative Liaison, attending the NAB Leadership Conference in Washington, DC every year to discuss Alaska’s unique and special broadcasting concerns with our Alaska delegation. He has developed a reputation of being well versed, educated, and a helpful ally to have on the broadcasting side.

Matt started in Anchorage at KBRJ in 1995, becoming Program Director for KVOK/KRXX in 2003 and then taking over as General Manager in Kodiak a year later. In June 2007, he moved to Kenai taking over as KSRM’s General Manager and is now the President/CEO/General Manager/Marketing Director and proud owner of KSRM Radio Group!

Matt has developed a stellar reputation among his peers both in his market and throughout the state. His work with the ABA board has given him the opportunity to interact and work alongside many fellow broadcasters. He has won multiple Goldie Awards and has been highlighted for the amazing work he’s done with the St. Jude radiothons, the KSRM Easter Egg Hunt and raising money for families in need.

In 2014, Matt received the “Excellence in Profession Award” from the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce and was honored that same year as the “Broadcaster of the Year” by the Alaska Broadcasters Association.

He will be inducted into the ABA Hall of Fame on November 17 in Anchorage.
