4:48 p.m. UPDATE – A power outage was reported around 3:40 p.m. which resulted in 3,762 Homer Electric Association members from the Kenai area around the K-Beach region being without power. Power was restored around 4:29 p.m. and Homer Electric Association confirmed to KSRM that power should be 100% restored. A broken insulator was reported to be the alleged culprit, but the cause is unknown at this time.
ORIGINAL – Homer Electric Association is responding to a large power outage mainly effecting over 3,700 members in the Kenai area.
Current members without power – 3,762 in Kenai, 6 in Soldotna and 3 in Kasilof, the cause of the outage is unknown at this time.
HEA crews are on-site and making repairs to restore power to the effective members.
