Past Kenai city council member Mike Boyle submitted his candidate application minutes before Monday’s 5:00 pm deadline, creating a three-way race for two open council seats.
Boyle lost his seat last October to Henry Knackstedt by 53 votes. He will now race against current incumbent Bob Molloy and Planning and Zoning Commission member Jim Glendening.
The one name missing from the candidates is current councilor Ryan Marquis whose term ends in October.
He stated he term limited himself out and that “Six years is a long time and I’m not prepared to commit to another three.”
The Kenai City Council does not have term limits.
Kenai residents will vote to fill the two open council seats on October 6.
