Tied with the Juneau Huskies at 7-7 with only :17 seconds remaining in regulation time, Colony quarterback Jack Nash scored on a 10-yard quarterback draw to stake the Knights to a 14-7 advantage and as the clock went to :00 a first-ever ASAA Division I State Football Championship for Colony High School.
The Knights defense set the tone for the game stopping Juneau four times on downs including a goal line stop before halftime and a fourth quarter stop which set-up the game-winning drive for the Knights.
Colony opened the scoring with a 49-yard touchdown pass from Nash to Jayce Underwood in the first quarter. Juneau answered with a second quarter touchdown and the two teams failed to score in the third quarter until the final seconds of the game.
Colony wins the program’s first state football championship in three appearances since the early 2000’s. Juneau won a state championship in 2007 in the Large School division.
