Late Oilers Rally Ends One Run Short

The Peninsula Oilers allowed five runs in the seventh inning to the Alaska Goldpanners, staking the Panners to a 7-3 lead before the Oilers rallied for three runs in the ninth.  Final score: Panners 7 – Oilers 6.

The Oilers collected six runs on 11 base hits, while the Panners score seven runs on only five hits and two costly Oilers errors.  A 5-run, seventh inning included two Oilers errors leading to three, unearned runs.

Oiler third baseman Ted Boeke hit a solo home run in the eighth inning and DH Brian Ruhm recorded an inside the park home run, plating two runs in the fourth.

 

The Oilers and Panners close the series on Thursday night at Growden Park in Fairbanks.  Game time scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
