Another pitching dual highlighted the final game of the three-game series between the Peninsula Oilers and the Everett Merchants; the Merchants downing the Oilers 2-1, with each team held to scoring in a single inning.
The Oilers plated the game’s first run with a two-out, RBI double by Bennett Oliver scoring Jimmy Galusky in the sixth inning. Oilers starter Josh Medeles pitched seven innings and did not allow a run. The 1-0 lead held until the top of the eighth when the Merchants scored two runs off reliever Sean Michel and the 2-1 advantage holds for a victory for the Merchants.
The Merchants sweep three, non-league games and record three complete games for Merchant pitchers. The Oilers allow only four earned runs in the three game series.
The Oilers are 4-4 in the ABL and will play two non-league games against the Seattle Studs before returning to ABL play.
The Oilers vs Studs series runs Thursday & Friday, June 25-26 at Coral Seymour Memorial Park. The Oilers have two off-days before resuming their current home stand.
