There was no imminent danger when Central Emergency Services responded to the victim of a shooting off of Big Eddy Road on Monday.
CES’ Chief Chris Mokracek said their relationship with other agencies plays a big part in incidents like that.
Mokracek: “We have an excellent relationship with law enforcement dispatch as far as giving us a heads-up of potentially dangerous scenarios and situations. So there’s kind of a tiered response, law enforcement will enter the scene first, establish a safe area and notify us that we can move into the scene and go ahead and take care of any emergency medical services with law enforcement on scene.”
That victim has since been identified as 24-year-old Russell Camp of Soldotna, who received multiple gun shot wounds Monday morning sometime around 2:30 am.
Chief Mokracek said his crews have specific training.
Mokracek: “We also work well with the school and hospitals and other agencies so we are prepared for incidents like that.”
Camp is reported to be in critical but stable condition in Anchorage.
