Lawmakers are yet to override Governor Bill Walker’s Friday veto of HB 132. After last night’s joint session, the Governor said he isn’t drawing any conclusions…

Gov. Walker: “I don’t know any of the inside baseball of strategy on why they didn’t. If they were going to bring it, I would have expected it today, so we’ll see and talk to them about that tomorrow, perhaps.”

The bill was sponsored by Speaker Mike Chenault who said in March there were other options for the bill…

Speaker Chenault (R-Nikiski): “Take it up either in a special session if he were to veto it, or if we’re still in session, if it makes it that far, that we would attempt to override a veto. So that’s a long way into the future, hopefully we’ll have conversations with the Administration and we can work out any problems that we have.”

Calls to Speaker Chenault’s office haven’t yet been returned.
