The lead teams raced into the Tustumena 200 Check Point #1 at Freddie’s Roadhouse just after 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, with the leaders covering the first 43 mile leg of the race in just 4 hours of running time.
Nicolas Petit, the first out of the chute with bib #1, reached the Freddie’s Roadhouse checkpoint first at 3:08.28 p.m.
Mitch Seavey reached the checkpoint just over three minutes later at 3:11.38.
Both lead mushers covered the 43-mile leg of the race average roughly 10 miles-per-hour.
