Following an entertaining, and weather resilient showing all summer, the 2023 Levitt AMP Soldotna Music Series officially concludes Wednesday with performances by Sue Biggs & Jack Will, and The Derek Poppin Band.
“Yeah, this year could not have been any better,” said Maddy McElrae, Director of the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce. “I believe our site visit was on the 12th of July. It was our biggest night. We had over 2600 people in attendance at 7:00. That was the night Diggin Dirt played. They opened with Ellie Nelson. It was beautiful, I could not have asked for a better day for [the Levitt Representative] to come and join us. So yeah, she left very impacted by our sense of community and that what means the most to me.
Speaking of Levitt, the music series provides free public concerts throughout the summer, featuring a beer and wine garden as well as food vendors, but will not last forever. The Levitt AMP Foundation is in a process of spending down the grant funds used for local music series’ like the one in Soldotna. Currently the Soldotna Music Series is funded for 2 more years, and could potentially receive additional 3 year grants, but not beyond 2031 when the Levitt music series grant will be officially dissolved.
“They will be done once all their funds are run out,” McElrae said. “Yeah, guaranteed for two more summers. Hopefully and potentially we could apply for another three-year grant, but nothing is promised.”
Music will begin in the Soldotna Creek Park following the Wednesday Market at 6:00pm.
