This year’s Levitt Amp Music Series kicked off with a colorful bang on Wednesday, June 4th. Friends and family gathered at the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge for a 2.2-mile Color Fun Run to Soldotna Creek Park.
Runners were doused from head to toe in color as they battled through the rain.
It featured four color stations, with the first being KSRM.
The run marked the sixth season of the music series, presented by the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce and the Levitt Foundation.
“We had to make sure it got together smoothly,” said Executive Director of the Soldotna Chamber, Heidi Sorrell. “We were out in the pouring rain, setting up candles, delineators, and designating where the run would go. There was a lot of work that went into.”
As they ran through the woods and on the streets of Soldotna, the runners neared the finish line and awaited their final dash of color.
When they arrived, they were greeted with cheers by many loved ones and peers.
The event was the first of many to kick off the jam-packed music series of free concerts featuring a diverse lineup of local artists and genres, from reggae to bluegrass.
June 4th featured Alaska Rock artists, Spirit Daddies from Nikiski and the Copper River Band from Homer.
Also available are local art, food, and a beer & wine garden.
Don’t miss next Wednesday at Soldotna Creek Park to enjoy rock & folk music and an evening of family fun.
