A City-sponsored cleanup of Kenai’s Lilac Lane and Cook Inlet View neighborhoods started today.
Mayor Porter: “They’ll have a couple of dumpsters over there and the City will be paying, all the neighbors have to do is if they have things they want to throw away, they can go and put them there, if they have larger items they can call City Hall and arrange for pickups. So it’s a perfect opportunity if you’ve wanted to do some spring cleaning around your place, to take advantage of that on Lilac St.”
Kenai Mayor Pat Porter said the city cycles the free dumpsters around various neighborhoods, helping to clean the city as a whole…
Mayor Porter: “Lots of times people have things stored in their yards that maybe they have forgotten about and it brings it to their attention. A lot of them are tires and old bicycles nobody uses anymore and so rather than have them stack up around your house, we give them the opportunity for the City to help them with that.”
The dumpsters will be along Lilac Lane through June 1st. The City’s Parks and Rec Department is also offering free help to remove large, bulky items. Schedule an appointment by calling 283-8261.
