LNG Schedules Purchased Property Demos

The Alaska LNG project has scheduled the demolition of 20 properties that they’ve purchased in Nikiski for this summer as a way to discourage criminals from targeting the vacant residences.

Last week locals expressed their concerns about increasing property thefts to project team members like Matt Horneman…

Horneman: “Demo teams have started, so they’ve got about 20 houses they’re going to do. When we saw the rise in security incidents, we upped the squads going around and doing their patrols. We increased the communications with the Troopers, we were more proactive in addressing that. We got seven structures demolished last year and we’ve got 20 this year.”

Mike Peak lives adjacent to some of the properties bought by the $65 billion Alaska LNG project and pointed out that the people living in surrounding neighborhoods are the residents most impacted.

He says the project should take the residents living with the “aftermath” more into consideration.
