Local Athletes Bring Home The Medals From Statewide Competition

The Special Olympics Alaska Central Peninsula, represented by 25 athletes, earned nine gold medals, nine silver medals and three bronze medals in swimming and added medals in basketball at the statewide competition held June 7-9 in Anchorage.
Swimming Award Winners
Cindy Dehart- 1 Silver and 1 Bronze
Darryl Magen- 1 Gold and 3 Silver
Elijah Stafford- 1 Gold and 2 Silver
Josh Delie-1 Silver
Lochlan McManus- 3 Gold
Mercedes Norris- 1 Gold
Michelle Davidson- 1 Gold and 2 Bronze
Richard Reger- 2 Gold and 1 Silver
Trystin Clucas- 1 Gold and 2 Silver
Basketball Awards
The central peninsula basketball team won the bronze medal with members: Tyne Buning, Shawn Kuhuski, Dan Endicott, Elisha Smith, Tony Kaser, Jason Criss, Dacoda Hanks, Ethan Satterwhite, Lyrad Larson, Kyle Heffner.
The basketball individual skills medal winners included:
Molly Joseph- 1 Silver and 1 Bronze
Roger Randall- 1 Gold and 1 Silver
Sam Romig- 2 Gold
David Mitchell- 1 Gold and 1 Silver
Ric Hunter- 1 Gold and 1 Bronze
