Seven Masters Division swimmers from the Kenai/Soldotna area will compete at the 2023 U.S. Masters Spring Nationals in Irvine, CA from April 27–30 at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatic Center in Irvine, California.

The U.S. Masters Spring Nationals feature 2,500 swimmers in four days of competition, including a total of 16 Alaska swimmers.

Top of the World Swimming (TOWS) team members Kendra Ashwell, Carolann Barum, Johna
Beech, Angie Brennan, Danny McIntosh, Lucas Petersen, and Michelle Turinsky have been
practicing for the past eight months in preparation for this meet. In total, these swimmers will
compete in 30 events; including the 1000 Free, 400 IM, 200 IM, and 200 Free.

TOWS is a part of U.S. Masters Swimming, which is a national membership-operated nonprofit
that provides membership benefits to nearly 65,000 Masters swimmers across the country. The
“Masters” refers to 18 years old or older, not the skill set.

TOWS practices at the Kenai Central High School Pool September through April and also offers the Adult Learn to Swim Program.
