Local parents and guardians are invited to participate in a focus group put on by the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services next Thursday about childhood vaccinations.

Greg Wilkinson with the department told us who they hope to talk to.

Wilkinson: “We want to talk to people who have ever say delayed had their child vaccinated or if they have difficulty accessing vaccine services or they’re confused about where to get the best information on vaccinations. So if they have a specific knowledge or opinion about this, these are the kind of people we would like to talk to about it.”

He said that the parents or guardians must have a child under the age of 5 and must pre-register by calling Molly Mylius at 907-891-2340 as there are limited spaces.

Wilkinson: “We’ll be keeping the focus group to around 10 people so we still have some openings but if people are interested in participating it will be Thursday June 5 from 1-3 in the afternoon at the Kenai Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center.”

Wilkinson said that participants in the group will receive a $50 Visa gift card as a thank you and childcare is provided.
