The annual Mayor’s Marathon event on Saturday featured men’s and women’s competition in the full marathon, half marathon and five kilometer events, racing through the city streets and trails of Anchorage.
Megan Youngren of Soldotna raced to a second place in the women’s full marathon finishing in 3 hours, 6 minutes, 11 seconds; just 22 seconds behind 2019 champion Marine Dusser of Anchorage and strong enough for an 11th-place finish overall (men’s and women’s combined results).
Paul Rottich of Albuquerque, New Mexico raced to the Men’s Full Marathon winner’s podium completing the course in 2:27:19.
Caroline Kurgat, UAA cross country and outdoor track national champion, won the Women’s Half Marathon and posted the fastest time, both female and male, of 1:13:51.
