Local Track Athletes Shine At Brian Young Invitational

Author: Coach Dan Gensel |

Track and Field athletes from throughout Alaska, representing many of the best of Alaska’s high school track stars, competed at the Brian Young Track and Field Invitational Meet in Kodiak on June 4th and 5th.  The meet was certified by USATF Alaska and held at the Joe Floyd Track in Kodiak.

Athletes competed individually but under the banners of three team designations: South Central All-Stars ( Kenai Peninsula athletes), Cook Inlet Conference and North/Southeast.  The Brian Young is an invitation only, fully sponsored meet, designed to give big school and small school athletes the opportunity to compete against and learn from each other.

First place finishes were recorded by Autumn Fischer of SoHi with a personal best in the girls shot put at 36′ 11″.  SoHi’s Nathaniel Johnson outraced the field in the boys 400M and SoHi’s Drysta Crosby Schneider topped all jumpers in the girls triple jump.
