Local Wrestlers Excel At Lancer Smith Memorial Tournament

A change in format for the Lancer Smith Memorial Tournament provided split venues and outstanding individual results for Central Peninsula wrestlers from SoHi and Nikiski.  The two-day, two location format featured wrestling at both Palmer High School and Wasilla High School.

 

Day 1: Wasilla

Overall, the Soldotna Stars wrestling team placed second on Day 1 at Wasilla with 146 team points, behind Colony, 275.5.

Soldotna Individual Results:

Ezekiel Miller first at 130, Isaac Chavarria first at 140, Liam Babitt won at 215, Cassisius Miller was second at 135, Hunter Secor was third at 125, Nicholas Rackley was third at 135, Edgar Land was fourth at 152, Cole Radeck was fourth at 189, Noah Land was fourth at 285, Logan Duyck was fifth at 145, Saiyan Baker was fifth at 152 and Kevin Steger was sixth at 215.

Day 1: Palmer

Nikiski Individual Results:

For Nikiski, Jaryn Zoda was second at 140, Simon Grenier was second at 171, Koleman McCaughey was third at 171, Mayaac Schmit was fourth at 285, Johnny Ralston was fifth at 189 and Hunter Neal was fifth at 145.

Day 2: Palmer

Overall, The Soldotna Stars placed second on Day 2 at Palmer High School with 128 points, behind Palmer, 232.2

Soldotna Individual Results:

Ezekiel Miller placed first, Issac Chavarria placed first, Liam Babitt finished first, Hunter Secor was second, Cassisius Miller was third, Cole Radeck was fourth, Logan Duyck was fifth and Kevin Steger was sixth.

Nikiski Individual Results:

Mavaac Schmit was third, Sam Yerkes was fourth, Koleman McCaughey was fourth, Robert Isabel was fourth, Hunter Neal was sixth and Johnny Ralston was sixth.

 

Girls Indivdual Results

The girls bracket produced one overall champion for the Central Peninsula.

Soldotna’s Trinity Donovan won both Day 1 and 2 at 145 pounds.
