Longtime Kenai Peninsula Borough Attorney To Retire, Job Listing Posted

The Kenai Peninsula Borough Attorney announced plans to retire and her service to the Borough was commended at the most recent Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly meeting. Borough Mayor Charlie Pierce presented a resolution commending Colette Thompson for her contributions, dedication and many years of public service to the Kenai Peninsula Borough as Borough Attorney.

 

The resolution was read into public record by the Borough Mayor:

“Whereas after more than 27 years of public service, Colette Thompson has announced her intentions to retire from active employment with the Kenai Peninsula Borough. Whereas Colette Thompson began her career with the Kenai Peninsula Borough in April 1994 when she was hired to fill the position of Deputy Borough Attorney. Whereas, in March 1996, Colette Thompson was appointed acting Borough Attorney. Whereas, since her appointment by the Assembly to the position of Borough Attorney in October of 1996, Colette Thompson has served the Borough with distinction. Whereas, Colette Thompson has set a higher standard for stellar work and opinions that will benefit her colleagues and the Borough for many years to come.”

 

Nicholas Spiropoulos, Mat-Su Borough Attorney called through Zoom to support Thompson:

“Through the Alaska Municipal Attorneys Association, she was always a resource that you could talk to through these kind of arcane somewhat issues that most people don’t really get to in their careers.”

 

Jill Dolan, Fairbanks North Star Borough Attorney also called in:

“She has just been an incredible wealth of knowledge over the years. Just always willing to share with me as a public municipal attorney and I’ve witnessed her share with other municipal attorneys her vast resources and expertise.”
