Lydia Jacoby Clears Preliminary Heat; Ready For Sunday Semi-Final

Lydia Jacoby, 17-year old Seward, Alaska Olympic swimmer, posted the second-fastest time in the preliminary 100M Breaststroke swim early Sunday morning Alaska Time at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

 

Jacoby swam a 1:05.52 , the second fastest time in her heat.  South Africa’s Tatjana Schoenmaker set an Olympic record in a time of 1 minute, 4.82 seconds in the same heat as Jacoby.

 

USA’s top qualifier and reigning Olympic champion Lilly King, placed third overall and won her heat in 1:05:55.

 

Jacoby returns to the pool to qualify for the finals with a semi-final race Sunday evening at 5:50 p.m. ADT at the Tokyo Aquatic Center.

 

The finals are Monday at 6:17 p.m. ADT. The top eight swimmers from the two semifinals will advance.
