ORIGINAL STORY – A major rockslide closed Lowell Point Road Wednesday.
A community alert was sent out Wednesday afternoon by the Seward Police Department stating that the road would be closed till further notice. Public Works and local contractors are in the process of working to clear that rockslide.
Seward City Clerk, Brenda Ballou, said that the rockslide is not stable and that there is still some slide activity in the area. She said the City of Seward Public Works Department is working to remove the debris safely and the dangerous unstable rock could delay and/or temporarily stop the work.
Ballou said to not go through the “Road Closed” signs due to the heavy equipment clearing the debris.
As of last report, the road is still closed.
