Man Accused In GCI Vandalism Due in Court Thursday

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) —The man accused of vandalizing equipment at Alaska’s largest telecommunications firm is next scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.

 

Alaska Public Media (http://bit.ly/2r7096e) reports Brodie Eguires-Lee faces several felony counts after police say he broke into the GCI communications room at a midtown Anchorage office building on Sunday and tore up equipment that caused statewide outages. Authorities also allege he threatened a GCI employee with a screwdriver.

 

Charging documents say he identified himself to another employee as “Lucifer” and was there to fix the machines. A GCI spokeswoman says repairs were immediately made and services restored by late Sunday afternoon.

 

He is being held on a $25,000 bail and was appointed a public defender, who didn’t immediately return a message to The Associated Press seeking comment Wednesday.
