Man Arrested in Ketchikan Airport For Alleged Intent to Smuggle Drugs into Alaska

The Alaska State Troopers Statewide Drug Enforcement Unit in Ketchikan arrested a man on Saturday in the Ketchikan International Airport for two counts of alleged Conspiracy to Commit Misconduct involving a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree.

 

A joint investigation between the AST Drug Enforcement Unit and Ketchikan Police Department Drug Unit led to the arrest of 34-year-old Washington State resident, Zerisenay Gebregiorgis. The investigation revealed  Gebregiorgis was working with other individuals to illegally bring large quantities of meth and heroin to Ketchikan and other communities in Southeast Alaska.

 

Gebregiorgis was taken to Ketchikan Correctional Center without bail and is pending arraignment. No further details from the investigation are available at this time.
