Troopers stopped a man wanted for a hit and run after a St. Paddy’s Day chase along K-Beach yesterday.
Initially, officers tried to pull 55-year-old Lawrence Karella over for passing in a no passing zone on K-Beach. Megan Peters said at that time, they didn’t know why Karella failed to stop…
Peters: “Just looks like we tried to pull somebody over, I’m not sure what it was for and they just didn’t stop and so other troopers joined in.”
The chase started around 1:45pm and was ended when Troopers deployed a spike strip at Bridge Access, causing the sedan’s tires to deflate.
Karella was arrested for Failure to Stop for a Peace Officer I, Reckless Driving and Reckless endangerment. Officers found he had two outstanding arrest warrants for Hit and Run and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
Karella was booked into the Wildwood Pre Trial Facility where he was held without bail.
