The Homer Mariner boys moved to the top of the Kenai Peninsula basketball standings for the 3A & 4A regular season improving to 6-1 with a 63-53 victory over Kenai in Homer on Tuesday.
Homer Boys 63 – Kenai 53
Carter Tennison lead the Marriner boys with 23 points to lead the Homer Mariners to a 63-53 victory over the Kenai Kardinals. Kenai suffered a second-straight loss, after opening the season at 6-0. Jordan Kvasnikoff and Jakob Kvasnikoff each scored 19 points for Kenai in the loss.
Homer Girls 30 – Kenai 25
The Kardinal girls scoring woes continued in Homer on Tuesday as the Kenai girls managed only seven points in the combined second and third quarters. Kenai and Homer were tied at 5-5 after one quarter. Emma Beck lead Kenai with 11 points.
Seward Girls 44 – Nikiski 28
The Nikiski girls were outscored 13-3 in the fourth quarter as Seward posted its second-straight win in peninsula play. Shelby Siemanski lead the Seahawks with 14 points; Nikiski’s Lillian Carstens topped all scorers with 19 points.
Seward Boys 62 – Nikiski 40
Seward’s Max Pfieffenberger scored 12, first quarter points and Nikiski (as a team) scored 13 points and Seward lead 16-13 after one quarter; enroute to a 62-40 Seahawks win. Pfieffenberger finished with 23 points and Austin Sutton topped Nikiski with 11 points.
