A four-goal effort by Levi Mese, including the game-tying goal with a minute and a half remaining in regulation, put the Kenai Kardinals in position for a North Star Conference upset on the home ice of the Homer Mariners; a game-winning goal by Homer with 12 seconds remaining iced the victory for the Mariners.

Dmitry Kuzmin or Spencer Warren, depending on your angle, scored the final goal for Homer in a 6-5 Senior Night victory for the Mariners.

Homer lead 3-0 after one period on goals by Ethan Pitzman, Ali McCarron and Isaiah Nevak.  Kenai scored the only second period goal, recorded by Levi Mese.  In the third period the two teams combined for seven goals, the first by Mese to draw the Kardinals to within a goal at 3-2.  Homer answered with goals by Kuzmin and Lee Lowe for a 5-2 advantage.  A goalie change for the Mariners to Connor Roderick resulted in three Kenai goals in a span of three minutes; as the Kardinals recorded goals by Mese, Brenna Eubank and a fourth goal for Levi Mese tying the contest at 5-5 with 1:32 remaining in regulation.

The final face-off in the Kardinal zone resulted in the game-winning score for Homer and a win for the Mariners on their final game on home ice.

Final Score: Homer 6 – Kenai 5
