Mariners Pound Stars For End of the Road Tournament Trophy

Nearly 60 shots on goal for the game and a six-goal, third period pushed the Homer Mariners past the Soldotna Stars 10-3 for the End of the Road Shootout hockey tournament championship on Saturday.

 

The Mariners finished tournament play 3-0 in the round robin hockey tournament hosted at the Kevin Bell Arena in Homer; the Mariners downed Houston and Bartlett in route to the Saturday showdown with SoHi.

 

Championship Game: Homer 10 – SoHi 3

The Mariner’s Isaiah Nevak scored a four-goal hat trick to lead the Mariners’ offensive attack in Homer’s 10-3 victory.  Nevak opened the scoring just :09 seconds into the contest and added three, straight goals to open the third period.

 

Homer lead 4-1 after one period; SoHi’s lone goal off the stick of Alex Montague.  The Stars added a pair of second period goals to close to within a goal at 4-3.  SoHi second period goals scored by Galen Brantley and Alex Montague.  Homer blew-up the game with six goals in the third.  Final Score: Homer 10, SoHi 3
